Normal People comes to an end this week with viewers set to bid farewell to Connell, Marianne and their summer of love.
Back in the real world and with the weather being so good, Normal People is going to sign off rather appropriately with its two main characters scoffing a couple of ice pops. Not ice cream, as Connell appears to have promised according to those who have already seen the final episodes.
People on Facebook have been saying that the scene is preceded by Connell asking Marianne if she wants an ice cream but comes back with an ice pop, which is a different thing altogether, obviously. One commenter said 'He went out for icecream and comes back with 2 rockets ffs' and another added 'Did it not annoy anyone else that he asked her “do you want and icecream” and he came back with an ice pop! I would send him back out after me ice cream.'
Also, people are up the walls that Marianne just leaves her ice pop to melt on the floor mid-consumption, with one saying 'I couldn't cope at all with the ice pop on the floor'.
Meanwhile, over on Instagram, one attentive viewer pointed out that The Sunday Game can be heard in the background, which sparks the question - is
well-known GAA man Connell listening to Marianne at all or does he have one eye on what's going on the telly?
It's the middle of the day so it could well be a live game but in any case, scoffing an ice pop while watching the GAA is just another milestone in any Irish relationship, right?
