Dustin the Turkey had his say, Ray D'Arcy had his say and now Niall Horan has had his say.
Dustin the Turkey left a sour taste (excuse the pun) in people's mouths after a comment he made on RTE Does Comic Relief stirred up a little bit of drama amongst Niall Horan fans.
Need catching up? Basically the whole thing kicked off when a clip of Niall singing was interrupted by Dustin, Ray D'Arcy and Zig and Zag. Cutting back to the gang in studio, they can be heard saying that it was actually Nialler's former bandmate Harry Styles they wanted... a comment that didn't go down well with the Mullingar man's US fans.
Both Dustin and Ray D'Arcy have already tried to
clear the air (to no avail it would seem), so it's only fair that Niall finally has his say on the whole thing too. Speaking in an interview with Sirius XM, Nialler was asked the deal about being in a fight with a turkey, to which he replied:
"Oh yeah, this has kicked off big time. So there's a few characters that did an afternoon TV show in Ireland for years, like puppets, and one of them is known to be quite brash but in the most Irish way possible... it won't go down well anywhere else on the planet.
"So my fans have completely retaliated against the turkey and it’s kicked off… and he’s like our national mascot so I’m kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, where I don’t know whether to tell the fans that like, it’s a puppet and to actually realise that our national treasure is Dustin the Turkey."
And, as many expected, Niall was in on the whole thing anyway. Niall Horan fans are loyal, we'll give 'em that...
