Love Island fans will have fewer episodes of the reality dating show to look forward to this summer.
ITV has reportedly decided to shorten Love Island by two weeks for the upcoming summer series.
According to a report from
Broadcast, the next summer edition of the show will follow the current winter version in lasting just six weeks, instead of the eight weeks that fans have become accustomed to in recent years.
That means that there will be 12 fewer episodes of Love Island this summer as the show returns to its original running schedule that was seen in 2015.
This summer's series is set to be the shortest since 2016.
While the ratings for the ongoing winter edition are decent, they are believed to be significantly lower than the highs of last summer's show, which was ultimately won by Amber Gill and Limerick man, Greg O'Shea.
The finale of Winter Love Island is just around the corner, with
ITV confirming that the winner will be announced on Sunday, February 23.
The winter version of the show has been taking place in Cape Town, South Africa although it's understood that Love Island will return to its usual home of Majorca this summer.
