Love Hate will be taking over the Friday night Late Late Show slot from next week when RTE's flagship chat show heads off air for a summer break.
Way back in March,
RTE promised that Love Hate would be one of the classic shows returning to our screens as audiences were asked to stay at home to combat the spread of Covid-19. However, it's been over two months and while the likes of
Bachelors Walk and Pure Mule have been keeping viewers entertained, there's been no sign of the greatest crime drama to ever come out of Montrose.
That will all change next week when, according to
RSVPLive.ie, RTE starts showing series one of the acclaimed show in a move that's sure to attract huge Friday night audiences. Love Hate will be back on our screens from 10.50pm on Friday, June 5, bridging a near six-year gap since it was last beamed into living rooms.
In case you were living on the moon from 2010 and 2014, Love Hate follows a group of Dublin criminals such as John Boy (Aidan Gillen), Nidge (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) and Franno (Peter Coonan) and was a huge ratings winner for the national broadcaster. It ended up being shown in places like Brazil, Australia and South Korea, meaning there were people all over the world falling for Robert Sheehan, who played Darren. Most importantly, it made fizzy orange cool again thanks to Tommy (Killian Scott).

With lockdown rules due to be in place until August at least, RTE have only gone and saved the summer. Love Hate returns on Friday, June 5 at 10.50pm.
