Know A Gamer? There Could Be Cause For Concern

The World Health Organisation is considering putting Online Gaming Disorder into the International Classification of Diseases. 

The work is known as ICD 'defines and classifies diseases internationally' currently in its11th revision as it continues to update medical professionals. A draft of the work currently online shows that it may add Online Gaming Disorder to its list. 

With symptoms of the following: 

1) impaired control over gaming (e.g., onset, frequency, intensity, duration, termination, context) 2) increasing priority is given to gaming to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other life interests and daily activities 3) continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.

Although this is just a draft and no decision has been made it highlights the prevalence of the disorder. Online gaming has proven beneficial for some people both socially and financially the psychological addiction could prove too much for some people.
