This was not an easy list to whittle down, let me tell you!
November 12th is Disney Day, and what better way to celebrate it than watching some of Disney's best. Whether it's an action packed Marvel film, or a feel good family movie starring Lindsay Lohan, there's no end to the movies you can choose on Disney Plus, no matter your mood. Here's just our list of some top picks.
1. Marvel Movies (all of them)
It's hard to recommend one without recommending them all - they kind of come as a package deal! If you really want to get into the spirit you can go back to the beginning with
Iron Man (2008) and watch right up until
Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), which are all on Disney Plus. Or you can pick and choose, watch the first
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) or
Antman (2015) if you're a fan of Paul Rudd (and who isn't really?). Disney bought Marvel back in 2009, so all the MCU films are on Disney Plus.
2. Hercules (1997)
The 1997 animated movie Hercules is one of Disney's best. The soundtrack, the story, it's all incredible and is bound to fill you with nostalgia. It's possibly not the first movie you think of when you think Disney, but in our opinion it's easily one of the best. Just expect to be singing "Zero To Hero" and "Go The Distance" for many days to come after watching.
3. Up (2009)
Has an opening scene to a Pixar movie ever made us cry so much? I don't think so. If you can get past that brutal start to the film, Up is one of those movies that will make you happy you're alive. It's got all the ingredients of a feel good flick; a grumpy but loveable old man, a kid that's vying for his attention, and of course, a talking dog. What more could you ask for?
4. The Incredibles (2004)
The superhero movie we didn't know we needed.
The Incredibles tells the story of Mr. Incredible and his wife Elastigirl, who are forced to go into hiding after a mission goes wrong. They set up life in suburbia where they grow a family, but Bob can't help but feel the itch to return to superhero life. I truly thank the team of people that put
The Incredibles together - it is a masterpiece.
5. Lilo & Stitch (2002)
An elite Disney film that does not get the recognition that it deserves. Lilo & Stitch follows Stitch, an alien creation, as he arrives on earth and is adopted by Lilo, a lonely girl who needs a friend. This is a perfect movie, and the Elvis Presley soundtrack only serves to make it even more iconic. We don't want to play favourites (but this may be a favourite).
6. The Parent Trap (1998)
Did it take us a few years to realise that Lindsay Lohan plays both twins in this movie? Yes, yes it did. Even after several rewatches? Yes, even after that. Still, this movie never gets old and is constantly referenced even today. When a pair of twins are reunited at a summer camp, they hatch a plan on how to get their parents back together.
7. Flubber (1997)
Robin Williams will forever have a place in our hearts, and we adore his film
Flubber. A scientist accidentally creates flubber when researching new energy sources, and chaos soon ensues. This film is a lot of fun and light hearted, and Robin Williams is as brilliant as ever.
