Irish band amongst the Grammy nominees this year.
Beloved Limerick band The Cranberries have been nominated for their first-ever Grammy Award.
Competing in the category for Best Rock Album, the band’s
In the End album is in the running for the prestigious award.
Nominees were announced on Wednesday, but the winners won’t be announced until the annual awards show on January 26th, 2020.
Their final album, it was released earlier this year in memory of the late great Dolores O’Riordan.
Reacting to the news The Cranberries took to Twitter to say: “We are humbly honoured with the news that our final album ‘In the End’ has been nominated for a 2020 Grammy in the category of Best Rock Album.
It’s a fitting tribute to Dolores and her truly amazing talents. She would be immensely proud.”

Other nominees in the category include Bring Me The Horizon, Cage The Elephant, I Prevail and Rival Sons.
Also, on course to become the first Irish band to
reach a billion views on YouTube, their song
Zombie has over 970 million views. Uploaded to the website in 2009, it’s hoped that the video will surpass the one billion mark before Christmas of this year.
