If you haven't heard of the 36-year-old from Bray it's probably because wrestling fandom is still a fairly underground pastime in Ireland but over in the States, Finn (real name Fergal Devitt) is quite the superstar.
He's got over 1 million followers on Twitter and he put his high profile to great use at Wrestlemania in New Orleans on Sunday night. The annual event is the most prestigious in the WWE calendar and Bálor took part in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship against Seth Rollins and The Miz.
While he ultimately tasted defeat, Bálor gained a lot of praise and new admirers for the manner in which he entered the ring alongside members of the New Orleans LGBT community, a clip of which can be viewed below.
All participants were wearing rainbow t-shirts featuring the star's logo and 20% of sales of the product will go to GLAAD, a U.S. LGBT charity.
Bálor even changed his Twitter name to 'Finn Bálor for EVERYONE' for the occasion and received a lot of praise online.
LOVE this Finn Balor inclusion entrance! That man is an angel. #BalorClub ????

For everyone that is disappointed that @FinnBalor didnt do his demon entrance and instead came to ring repping the #lgbt community is truly blind to how much of a impact he really made tonight #WrestleMania pic.twitter.com/DMdyp8lbn4

i've been watching wwe for 2+ decades and for so much of that time it would be just UNTHINKABLE for a wrestler to have something as simple as that finn balor LGBTQ pride entrance, and it makes me a tad emotional to see it now
