As the storylines in The Crown edge closer and closer to recent memory, the story only gets more enthralling. As the events of the show approach the 1990s, some more notable real-life characters will be making an appearance, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
And there is one Irish actor who is said to be in talks to take up the role. Fleabag actor Andrew Scott has reportedly been approached to take up the role.
According to a report from
The Sun, a TV insider said, "This role is one of the most anticipated castings on The Crown.
“The final series covers the Prime Minister’s epic clash with the Queen over her response to the death of Diana in 1997.
“So the creators wanted an adaptable actor like Andrew who has proved he can master the charm and intimidating presence that typified Blair.”
The actor became well-known to many after starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in BBC's Sherlock. He has also starred in an episode of Black Mirror, played a Bond villain in 2015’s Spectre, but perhaps his most famous role is as the priest in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag.
SO, we may be seeing the Dublin actor take up perhaps one of his biggest roles yet.
