The ever-looming promise of Brexit has been consistently reported in global news ever since the British public voted 'leave' back in June 2016.
And rightly so - it's a pretty big deal. One that vastly changes more than just which line you queue in upon arrival at the airport.
The kick-off date for the looming departure (although nobody knows specifically) is hinted at being in either March 2019 when the UK leaves the customs union, or a further two or three years later, should the proposed transitionary period go ahead.
And while we worry for the future of our neighbours - we've totally overlooked one advantage to be taken from this otherwise gloomy situation.
Yes, with Brexit comes tax-free shopping once more to those travelling between Ireland and Great Britain.
After two decades of full priced purchasing between Ireland and the UK - lower prices may be on the horizon for the frequent flyers of us all.
However, under duty free rules, items bought must be carried across a customs border in order for the purchaser to obtain the tax-free allowance. Therefore, Irish shoppers will have not be allowed to use the ever-popular 'shop and collect' service provided at the airport - but will have to pick it up en route home instead.
According to the Irish Times, this could mean between 60% - 80% on savings of alcohol, cigarettes and beauty products among other things.
So, while the impending thought of Brexit may scare you ultimately, it's nice (albeit, materialistic) to know that a few things can soften the blow...
