Diana: Seven Days That Shook The World
Although we haven't seen it yet on The Crown, we're all aware of how the Charles and Diana story ends.
This two-part documentary reminds us of how the world went into mourning in the seven days between Diana's death and her funeral, as well as the tensions and growing resentment and sympathy towards the royal family after her passing.
The Queen Mother
The Queen Mother is someone we see a lot more of in the earlier seasons of The Crown, but she still plays an important role in the events of season 3 and 4. One particularly shocking season 4 episode centred around Princes Margaret comes to mind.
This two-part documentary explores how Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother forged her own path while holding court in Buckingham palace.
Diana In Her Own Words
Featuring footage and recordings of the Princess Of Wales herself, Diana In Her Own Words takes us on a journey through her relationship with Charles, the queen, the wider royal family and the world.
The documentary uses the recordings Princess Diana made for the book that was written by Andrew Morton, and we get to hear Diana detail the events that surrounded her. And she reveals some very interesting arguments and conversations that took place.
The Story of Diana
Yet another fascinating documentary series that shines a light on who was once the most famous woman in the world. This series highlights her massive popularity alongside her simultaneous personal struggles, through interviews with those who were close to her such as her brother.
It takes us from the time she started attracting overwhelming media attention, through her marriage with Charles, their divorce and her final days.
We all want more of The Crown but these documentaries will have to keep us going until season 5 arrives.
