It has been confirmed that Fair City will return to TV screens in early September after a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The last recorded episode of Fair City aired as far back as Easter Sunday (April 12) after filming was paused due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, some welcome news for fans of the show has been announced this morning, with brand new episodes of the much-loved soap set to air from early September.
RTE have said today that 'p
roduction is underway with new safety procedures and systems in place' and while sometimes soaps prefer to sweep real world issues under the carpet, that won't be the case with the devastating pandemic we've all had to deal with this year. According to the national broadcaster, 'viewers will see new stories and dramas unfold as the programme will reflect life in Ireland with Covid-19.'

Fair City executive producer Brigie De Courcy explained: "It has been our priority that these systems were in place before committing to a return date so that we could protect the health and well-being of our actors, writers, directors and crew."
With TV filming hit by unprecedented disruption this year, this is definitely something for Fair City fans to look forward to in the autumn.
