We've been tormented by the memes, pictures and videos for the last few weeks from English fans and admirers.
"It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME." That's what we've had to listen to since England came out of their relatively easy group stage and put Colombia and Sweden to the sword in the knockout stages.
The media were hyping them up, the english pundits were hyping them up and although it's only their first semi-final in a major tournament since Euro 1996, the whole of England believed that they were already on their way to the final where they would be no doubt, bringing the cup home.
And for a while, it looked like the dream was coming through.
The English dominated the first half of the semi-final and even grabbed an early opener from a free-kick courtesy of Trippier.
But they let the Croatians back in as the second half progressed and Croatia managed to drag Harry Kane and Co into extra-time against their will where they ended up finding a winner after almost two hours of play.
Croatia's first World Cup ever came in 1998 and twenty years later, they are in the final of the major tournament.

Oh well, at least they have the third place play-off to look forward to on Saturday.
