Although you might not have agreed with his punditry over the last few years - or ever for that matter - Eamon Dunphy brought a daftness to RTÉ that will be missed dearly.
The broadcaster confirmed in a short Twitter statement on Wednesday that he would be leaving RTÉ Sport to focus on his podcast 'The Stand'.
However, that was not the last say that the former Republic of Ireland and Manchester United player had on the matter.
Writing in his column for The Irish Daily Star on Thursday, he said that "RTE Sport has lost its nerve and, when that happens, you're in trouble."
"RTE is a very different place now. It's a place that lives in fear of keyboard warriors on Twitter or Facebook."
He went on to say that he had seen a culture shift since Johnny Giles departed and felt that Giles was treated badly in the way his departure was dealt with.
He said that in the past, the punditry on RTÉ had kicked "the arses of BBC and ITV" but he now feared that TV3 were "hoovering up soccer rights with a stronger panel".
He finished by saying he was worried about the path "RTÉ Sport is going down" after the new Head of Sport at RTE Declan McBennett said that the company would "not tolerate personalised attacks on players or managers."
