Derry Girls will make its Irish TV debut later this week

Derry Girls will air on Irish TV for the first time later this week, over two years after fans first met Erin Quinn and her pals on Channel 4.

Much like Father Ted before it, Derry Girls found fame on the UK station after it debuted to much acclaim back in January 2018. Written by Derry native Lisa McGee, it follows the lives of Erin, Claire, Orla, Michelle and James as they negotiate the perils of teenage life against the backdrop of The Troubles in 1990s Northern Ireland. The show has gone on to be a huge hit, with Channel 4 having already aired two seasons and this coming Sunday, RTE will screen Derry Girls for the first time. All episodes will be shown over the coming weeks, starting with the very first one which sees a new school term get off to a very bad start for the gang. If you haven't managed to catch Derry Girls yet or just want to watch it all again, this seems like the perfect opportunity. And sure, if you can't wait until Sunday, every episode is available on Netflix. Derry Girls gets underway this coming Sunday on RTE One at 9.30pm.
