The Future of Fashion? These Silk Scarves are Dyed with Bacteria

Its where science meets fashion. Designer Natsai Audrey Chieza is working alongside professor John Ward who specialises in synthetic biology at University College in London. They're trying to come up with an alternative for the use of traditional dyeing techniques that are damaging the environment by dyeing silk scarves with bacteria.

The scarves are folded in an origami-like fashion so they can fit within the confines of a 150mm diameter of a petri dish. These purpose folds produce an array of stunning controlled mirrored prints. Could this be the future of the fashion industry?
