Laura Whitmore is the new favourite to take over from Caroline Flack for the upcoming winter series of Love Island.

Flack announced her decision to step down from her role as Love Island host following last week's arrest and assault charge, and viewers immediately began to speculate about her replacement. Former contestant Maura Higgins was rumoured to be interested in the gig but her January commitment to Dancing On Ice made that scenario unlikely. Another Irishwoman has since emerged as a leading candidate, however, as Boylesports revealed that they consider Laura Whitmore the favourite. Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports told Lovin.ie: "Maura Higgins was the lead contender before Caroline Flack’s announcement, but that money has dried up in the last couple of hours with Curtis Pritchard insisting that it’s not going to happen. "As a result we have to make Laura Whitmore the new frontrunner and with links to the show already, she looks well positioned to land the gig." Whitmore is currently 11/8 to present the next series of Love Island, closely followed by Maya Jama. Whitmore is an experienced television presenter and her relationship with Love Island's popular narrator, Iain Stirling, has not gone unnoticed by bookmakers. Boylesports odds for next Love Island presenter 11/8 Laura Whitmore 11/4 Maya Jama 3/1 Arielle Vandenberg 7/1 Emily Atack 10/1 Emma Willis 11/1 Sophie Monk 12/1 Maura Higgins 16/1 Holly Willoughby 50/1 Gemma Collins 66/1 Davina McCall
