BREAKING: Pope Francis Has Confirmed That He Will Travel To Ireland In August 2018

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has, just today, held a 23-minute meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican.

The meeting was requested several weeks ago following the invitation to the pope by the Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference, enquiring about a potential visit to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families in two years' time.

The last Pontiff to travel to Ireland was Pope John Paul II in 1979, where he made the incredibly famous 'People of Ireland, I love you' speech in Phoenix Park.
