Barry Keoghan’s powerful Irish drama has been added to Netflix today

Most of us missed this gem in cinemas, so it now is the perfect time to check it out.

Initially released in Ireland in March 2020, riiiiiiight as the pandemic arrived which resulting in the cinemas being closed, so Calm With Horses never got the audience that it truly deserved. Thankfully, that can now be rectified as the dark Irish drama has been added to Netflix today. The film tells the story of an ex-boxer (Cosmo Jarvis) who works as an enforcer for the youngest member of a criminal family (Barry Keoghan) in rural Ireland while providing his ex-girlfriend (Niamh Algar) and their autistic son. The movie was executive produced by Michael Fassbender, and it has a score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, where some major outlets gave the movie stellar reviews: Indiewire - "This is an ultimately moving morality tale announcing a confident new voice in international cinema." The Times - "The direction, by the novice Nick Rowland, is assured. You've seen it before. But not like this." The Observer - "An immersive tale of tortured masculinity and divided loyalties that pulls the viewer right into the raging bull mindset of its haunted protagonist." Calm With Horses is available to watch on Netflix from today (Monday, October 26).
