I'm a complete sucker for those motivational style ads. Beats have really cornered the market for these recently. From the game before the game released before the world cup to the Hozier backed Lebron James video they do spine tingling pumped up ads like no-one else.
I know he has been proven as a drug cheat but god this video used to give me tingles. It focuses more on the people Armstrong's Livestrong charity benefited than sport. While his credibility is now undermined it is still a great ad.
This ad challenges the stereotypes of what greatness is. Sometimes it's the overweight kid who is doing something about it rather than an adonis like athlete.
Apple's ad for the crazy one's features leaders, innovators and groundbreakers from Gandhi to Churchill but what makes it such a special ad is it's copy.
This ad captures the magic of Felix Baumgartner's momentous space jump.
I couldn't include one without the other. The game before the game ad premiered before the world cup and perfectly captures the pregame ritual professional footballers (I imagine!) go through before they take to the pitch.
While LeBron's coming home to Akron ad features Irish superstar Hozier in the background as LeBron James returns to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This ad which features James Vincent McMorrow's super version of Higher Love was released close to St Patrick's Day. It features everything from our olympic achievements to our business smarts. I always feel a strange sense of pride during this ad as it describes Ireland being the only government in Europe to exit a financial assistance program (like I said strange!).
I know it's simply a drinks company selling black liquid but the twist this ad incorporates as the players finish playing wheelchair basketball is both cleverly done and inspiring.
This ad featured mid Super Bowl and is unapologetically american and patriotic. It has some poignant lines such as it's the hottest fires that make the hardest steel. Eminem guest stars as the commercial finishes to the crescendo of a gospel choir.
