The Yulefest Kilkenny Christmas festival, now in its fourth year, will return next week for more festive fun.
Running from November 22nd, 2019 to January 6th 2020, it will be a bumper six weeks packed full of seasonal merriment.
The Christmas lights will be turned on by TV personality Mary FitzGerald. Taking place Saturday, November 23rd at 5:30pm, Mary will be on hand to launch the festival. Along with other famous faces such as Fionn the friendly Irish Wolfhound and the Star Wars characters.

This year’s itinerary puts the focus firmly on sustainability.
Reuse workshops, held earlier in the year, saw over 600 primary school children create their own Christmas baubles made from recycled materials.
On display in selected shopfronts during the festival, the aim is to teach passers-by about the city and sustainability. All in a fun and engaging way.

Standout events throughout the yuletide period include a Festival of Light featuring a Parade of Light, as well as the Medieval Mile Run which invites people of all ages and abilities to run, walk, jog or cycle through closed city streets.
Musical tasters come in the form of The High Hopes Choir & Carlow Ukulele Players performance, Vladimir’s Viennese Christmas Gala complete with 25-piece orchestra and 50-piece choir as well as a Ronan Tynan concert on January 4th, 2020.

And if all that’s not enough, there will also be hotel gardens festooned with festive decorations, an ice-skating rink and a Victorian carousel.
As well as a North Pole grotto where you can go to visit the main man himself.

One of the top Christmas festivals in the country, it was even listed in Skyscanner’s Guide to the Best Christmas Festivals in Ireland 2018.
