With the imminent arrival of Hurricane Ophelia, emergency planning is now in full swing operation. The National Emergency Coordination Group met this morning and, after liaising with Met Éireann, they've decided to close schools in all the counties that currently have a red weather warning. They are...

• Galway 
• Mayo
• Clare
• Cork
• Kerry
• Limerick
• Waterford
• Wexford

With 110km/hr gusts expected, along with heavy rain and flooding, it's the prudent thing to be doing.

As the storm approaches and more becomes known it's expected that there could be further school closures...

Many people are also expected to be working from home as unnecessary journeys are being discouraged...
