Owners at Shells Café in Sligo are reminiscing on the "good old days" this morning, sharing an emotional post on Instagram encouraging people to continue looking out for one another.
One of countless other Irish business forced to do the same, Shells Café in Sligo opened their doors to level five restriction this morning. Obviously nostalgic for better times, owners marked the occasion with a trip down memory lane - sharing a few throwback snaps of the team alongside a heartfelt message to customers.
"Waking up this morning has made me so nostalgic for the 'good old days' - where we had a cafe full of happy heads & happy staff.
"At any given time, in Shells we employ 30-40 people! That’s a BIG number. Each & everyone person touches our business & our customers in a really special way. And likewise our customers bring something special to us.
"We, like so many businesses, are, doing everything we can not just to keep doors open but to provide jobs for these legends & to provide a space for you.
"We are one of the lucky ones, we can stay open. Not every business is the same. This is the year to Dig deep, to support local & Irish. If you have extra income, use it, to treat you or a friend to something Irish.
"I look to brighter times ahead BUT also to brighter times right now, where we pull together and support each other."

A big part of the local community, owners are keen not to let the situation get them down. Facing incredibly tough times themselves, they're showing that weathering the storm is as much about the community as it is the business - offering to help anyone who may find themselves
down and out on their luck.
