We recently discovered this amazing restaurant in Ashbourne, Co. Meath that does one of the best-value early birds in the county.
Fifty50, a Mediterranean themed restaurant with Italian touches, offers a pretty spectacular early bird from 4 - 7pm where you can get TWO WHOLE COURSES for just €12.95, with the option of bumping it up to three for a mere €15.95 if you want to go the whole hog.
Which, by the way, you probably won't need to - as not only are the dishes genuinely delicious, portions are huuuuuge.
On a recent visit we couldn't even finish our garlic bread dish as the basket was so overflowing with crisp garlicky flat bread, a starter that is definitely big enough for two.
The restaurant itself was completely full on a Wednesday evening in the middle of January, which speaks volumes for how popular it is with locals.
Dishes on the early bird include such treats as cajun calamari, a mushroom risotto, and spinach tortellini, with daily specials also included in the deal.
And just in case you need more convincing, they change their special cheesecake weekly, with options this week of Lemon or, wait for it.... TOBLERONE <3
Fifty50 also have locations in Templeogue, Dublin 6, and a brand new spot in Navan. This is a place that does great locally sourced food for very reasonable prices, a welcome change from over-priced meals of late.
A definite contender for a romantic Valentine's meal that won't break the bank.
