There are countless gorgeous trails to explore in the West of Ireland, but nothing feels quite like finding a secret spot (and then sharing your discovery).

The Dingle Pensinsula boasts loads of popular trails, but hidden in the shadow of Conor's Pass you'll find a lesser known walk that finishes up in one of the most peaceful hidden spots - perfect for a weekend picnic. Loch a' Duin Valley (The Lake of the Fort) is an archeological treasure trove. You'll find ancient monuments dotted along the entire trail - wedge tombs, cooking slabs, and even ancient rock art will keep history buffs entertained throughout the entire walk which is a three-hour round trip starting and finishing at Kilmore Cross. There's a total of 89 stone structures in the valley, with many over 2,000 years old. While the trail is clearly marked - we recommend joining a walking tour to make sure you don't miss a trick on this trail.
