Galway's own Eimear Noone made history on Sunday night when she became the first woman to conduct the orchestra at the Oscars.

Eimear Noone, from Kilconnell, led the orchestra at the Academy Awards as excerpts from the five nominated scores were performed for all of Hollywood's elite and millions watching at home. Noone, who is best known for her award-winning work in composing music for video games, was proudly introduced by Brie Larson, Gal Gadot and Sigourney Weaver.
