There's a clip going viral of a horse quite literally walking into a bar in Bagnelstown, Co. Carlow, after a series of wins including at the US Grand National.
Footage of Hewick the horse being brought into the Pint Depot in Carlow and served a pint of Guinness alongside his trainer, John 'Shark' Hanlon has been shared on Twitter and by RTÉ News, although many people have expressed concern for the animal in the comments section.

One person wrote: "Not funny at all.. sums up how much regard horse racing has for the horses. Zero". Another said "this so so so bad, cruel & wrong. How can people do this?", with many people tagging ISPCA and DSPCA under the videos too.

In an interview with
RTÉ, Hanlon said:
He's going to get a break now and he'll go straight for the gold cup in march.... he's looking great and he's a real people's horse, he's as quiet as you'll ever see - no kicking, no biting, no nothing. It's so important to have all these people here today.
Speaking about his reasons for bringing 7 year old Hewick into the pub, Hanlon told KCLR Live on Tuesday morning:
“He wanted a pint, so I brought him in”.
