Thinking of heading away for the weekend? Realistically, Belfast probably isn't too high on your list, but thriving restaurant and cultural scenes is making the city one of the coolest new tourist destinations in Ireland.
Brimming with history and with plenty of local characters to let you know about it, a weekend in Belfast will only leave you wanting to stay longer.
Here's our guide on what to do if you're heading to the Big(ish) Smoke any time soon.

Head down towards the Waterfront and you'll find this quirky little market with an array of crafts and plenty of local cuisine to whet the appetite.

Located near Cave Hill, the castle and the surrounding area has fantastic views of the city, and the building itself is pretty spectacular.

Despite not being to Jimmy McNulty's taste in The Wire, Bushmills is a pretty decent whiskey and with this tour you'll get to discover the history and process behind the making of it.
The prison was closed down in 1996 and reopened as a museum and conference centre.

Unless you've been living in a hedge the last number of years you'll know GoT is pretty much the biggest thing in the world ever, and Belfast plays host to a number of studios and filming sets that you can visit.
One of Belfast's nightlife institutions, Lavery's has stood the test of time to remain a regular spot for just about everyone.
The three bars are busy with students and regulars alike during the week, but the pool tables make way for a club night on a Saturday.
