Cape Clear is a Gaeltacht with a large amount of its population being Irish speakers - thumbs up from me already! It's a similar vibe to the Aran islands being picturesque and untouched. On the island, you'll find one pub (there was two but sadly one closed), a shop, a distillery, a clubhouse, a church and an Irish college. It's the southernmost inhabited part of Ireland, which makes it the perfect escape from reality.View this post on Instagram#cape #capeclear #capeclearisland #harbour #drone #sky #sea

It has some of the most crystal blue waters, making it a deadly spot for a swim. If you're mad for water, you can also go kayaking or sailing around the island. There's a boat trip that goes out to Fastnet Rock, 4 miles to the south of Cape Clear and 8 miles from mainland, where there's an old lighthouse. Cape Clear is also home to a traditional yurt glamping site - ideal for a group of friends who want to have a weekend away with a difference. If you're planning a trip soon, September is the best time to go as there is an annual Storytelling Festival. This involves traditional storytelling, ceilís, live music, sing-songs and of course, the best craic! What a hidden gem!
