The North Cork hotel took to social media to announce its closure.
Cork’s Grand Hotel has ceased trading after 12 years in business.
One of the most recognisable hotels in Fermoy, it closed its doors for the last time this past weekend.
Owners made the announcement on social media. In a statement posted on their Facebook page, they said that it is “with heavy hearts and much reluctance that we say goodbye to The Grand Hotel.”
Thanking their loyal customers from over the years they went on to add “over the past 12 years we have had tremendous support from our amazing and loyal staff, our suppliers and our fabulous customers…we take great memories of Fermoy with us”.
A landmark in the city, Cork's Grand Hotel, which sits by the bridge along the old Dublin road, has been around since Victorian times. Opened in 1873, it’s one of the city’s most well-known sights and will be missed by locals and visitors alike.
Locals are hopeful that the premises will find new owners but that remains to be seen.
