Storm Barra leaves this Cork region unflooded, much to people's relief.
With Cork amongst the counties with a Status Red Weather warning, there were significant fears of flooding and power outtages. While much of the country has suffered at the hands of Storm Barra, one Cork café owner tweeted his relief to have gotten through the worst of it unscathed.

Richard Jacob, of Idaho Café, took to Twitter to express his joy. He tweets:
"
High tide and the storm surge have passed, with no major flooding at all" followed by a celebratory "
Yaaaay!"
While many were worried the effect of the storm might surpass today, Jacob was overjoyed to say that Cork could reopen tomorrow morning. Regulars of Idaho café, and those in the local area, will be delighted with this news.
Irish Examiner Reporter Eoin English also took to Twitter to say:
"
Cork city has escaped property damage with flooding confined to several low-lying streets."
English said that the square at Bantry, as well as streets in Youghal and Midleton were amongst the spots hit by flooding.

Schools and colleges in counties with a Red or Orange weather warning were ordered to close ahead of Storm Barra. Areas with the strongest gusts of wind include 134km/h on Sherkin Island, County Cork and 130km/h at Valentia, County Kerry, according to
Met Éireann.
The Journal reported that "59,000" are without power in western counties.
