The Rebel County is set to come alive this weekend, with thousands heading south for the annual Guinness Jazz Festival.
Cork Airport is preparing to batten down the hatches for one of its busiest weekends of the whole year, with over 45,000 people expected to travel through Ireland’s fastest-growing (and most punctual) airport this weekend.
The busiest day, for both arrivals and departures, will be this Thursday, October 24th as the festivities kick-off for the weekend.

According to Managing Director at Cork Airport, Niall MacCarthy: “we are delighted to see such strong passenger numbers travel through Cork Airport this October Bank Holiday weekend, with many of those arriving into Cork for the long-weekend festivities at the Jazz Festival in the city”.

He went on to say that passenger numbers have are up “9% over the same period last year”.
Offering over 50 routes connecting Cork with the UK, Europe and other long-haul destinations, there are plenty of different options for travellers.

A new twice-weekly service to Katowice offered by Ryanair will commence the end of October in addition to four other new services to the Winter 2019 schedule to Alicante, Budapest, Malta and Poznań. Aer Lingus has services to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Lisbon and Tenerife meaning Munster passengers are well serviced in terms of flights abroad.
Improvements have even been made to Cork Airport’s internal road layout, including a new set-down lane which allows drivers to stop off for up to 15 minutes free.
Anyone flying on Sunday, October 27 is reminded of Daylight-Saving Time with clocks set to go back one hour.
