Coast Guard Rescues Two Rowers In Difficulty Off Coast Of Ireland

Crews from the Irish Coast Guard rescued two people in difficulty off the coast of west Cork this afternoon, Independent.ie reports. 

The casualties were successfully rescued off the south-west coast after activating an emergency alarm when their vessel overturned.

It's believed the two casualties were attempting to row across the Atlantic.

Waterford-based Rescue 116  transferred them to Tralee Hospital. 

"It highlights that if you can raise the alarm and stay afloat then you stand a very good chance of being rescued. I also want to compliment the helicopter crew and Valentia on a very successful operation and thank the Air Corps for their support."
