Nestled in the historic city of Kilkenny, Smithwick's Experience Kilkenny makes for an ideal day out for day-trippers and locals alike. This tour invites visitors to step back in time, as they get up close and personal with this history-rich brewery.
On a 45-minute tour, your enthusiastic local guide will share the ins and outs of the Smithwick's brewing process as you soak up 300 years worth of fascinating ale history. During this time, you'll learn all about the people behind the Smithwick's story, including the monks and the Smithwick's family. You'll also get to witness the brewing process, and learn exactly what makes this red ale tick.
As well as being a rich tour, the Smithwick's Experience is full of surprises. Expect plenty of games throughout, as well as the opportunity to get stuck in to the brewing process. Mill the malt, stir the mash, smell the hops, and at the end of the tour, enjoy a pint of Smithwick's, which is included in your ticket price.
In addition to the Smiwthwick's Experience, the Kilkenny brewery also boasts the recently renovated Barrel Yard. This vibrant outdoor heated space invites visitors to enjoy a pint of Smithwick's while relaxing in the chilled-out surroundings. What's more, the Barrel Yard is the ideal place to enjoy live music, with a range of exciting artists performing in the space every Saturday from 5pm onwards.

Throughout July and August, tours run at the Smithwick's Experience every 20 minutes between 10am - 5pm. Booking in advance is advised to avoid disappointment. Tickets start at €18 with a pint or a soft drink included in the price.
